Marcia McKinzie – Owner/Artist

My dream has always been to become an artist. I have been painting watercolor batiks for 3 years. My work was chosen for the posters for the Farmer’s Market on Vashon Island. Since that time, many of my paintings have been sold in local galleries and during the Art Studio Tour on Vashon Island.

At Marcia McKinzie Art you will find beautiful Painting Artwork Watercolor Batiks on Rice Paper. My watercolor batik paintings are one of a kind, boldly colorful and richly textured.
I am a self taught artist and have had a shop on Etsy for about three years. My watercolor batiks are painted on rice paper. I first paint on the rice paper, then a layer of paraffin wax is applied to the painting. The painting is then crumpled and another color of paint is brushed over the cracked wax, allowing the paint to seep into the cracks. Wax is then applied and removed. The result is a brightly colored, beautifully textured painting.
