My name is Sharon Gilnack and this has been a lifelong dream that finally became a reality when I opened my Artfire shop in 2011. In 2015 I closed my Artfire shop and opened my shop on Etsy

I have a passion for knitting and crocheting that started at my grandmother’s knee. At the tender age of nine my grandmother taught me to crochet. Although she could not read a pattern she crocheted magnificent dollies and other types of thread crochet. This started my long journey and love of fiber.
I taught myself to knit when I was in college. Thus started the second part of my journey, with Lopi yarn and a hooded cable sweater pattern.

Although I have been legally blind since birth (due to oxygen damage as a preemie), my vision has now diminished to the point of having no viable vision. However, through the wonders of technology, I have a screen reader that reads to me, so I can work on even the more complicated patterns. Picture knitting is my favorite type of knitting since there is a wide variety that is ever changing. The designers, I have worked with over the years, have always been wonderful to provide accessible formats and permission to sell online or at craft shows. So I knit by touch and hope I remember to send an email with the next row note so there are not any errors.
