Description

This Red Coral Necklace is stunning! For thousands of years coins have been used the world over to show wealth by decorating clothing and being worn as jewelry and other adornments. The unique TRAVELER handmade necklace features a vintage mixed metal and opaque red glass Kuchi coin pendant handcrafted in Afghanistan. Just imagine the artist who originally fashioned the tribal pendant. How many hands did the pendant have to pass through and the distance it had to travel to end up as the beautiful focal on this particular necklace! To perfectly highlight the Kuchi pendant, red coral oval shaped beads were used, along with pewter hexagon beads and sterling silver. Created for the woman who adores wearing unique ethnic inspired jewelry, the one of a kind TRAVELER necklace was carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs.

Catherine Waterhouse – Owner/Designer

Experiencing a life long love affair with Nature (am a self-professed “nature geek”), I am able to satisfy a strong desire to create by designing one-of-a-kind jewelry mainly using semi-precious stones and sterling or fine silver. But polymer clay, Czech glass, Swarovski crystals, copper and lampwork beads also play a huge part in the design process. My Muse is Nature, and to be inspired, I just have to look out over the amazing desert landscape where my husband, my Shadow Dog, Seamus, and I are privileged to live. My work has been sold through galleries in Virginia, Texas and South Carolina, through art shows, home shows, Facebook, Pinterest, Wanelo, Flickr and ArtFire . . . and now Indiemade. I LOVE my “job!”

I am an ardent supporter of adopting dogs from shelters.  To help the many sweeties waiting for their forever homes, I have started a line of “dog rescue” jewelry.  For each piece sold, 1/2 of the purchase price is donated to the local Humane Society.  I am thrilled and humbled that the earrings are brisk sellers both on line and at the arts festivals I attend.

Shadow Dog Designs

Shadow Dog Designs is your place to purchase beautifully unique, one-of-a-kind, handmade jewelry. The jewelry-making bug bit me hard about 13 years ago and I have been selling my designs ever then. As long as I can remember, I have always “made” something. The desire to create is satisfied by designing one-of-a-kind jewelry, mainly using semi-precious stones and sterling or fine silver, but also polymer clay, Czech glass, Swarovski crystals, and, more recently, copper and lampwork beads. I love incorporating other artists’ pieces in my work for a truly unique piece. My Muse is Nature, and to be inspired, I just have to look out over the amazing desert landscape where my husband, my Shadow Dog, Seamus, and I are privileged to live.
I am a strong advocate for pet adoption – there are just too many loving souls waiting for their forever home. To help out, I started a line of “rescue dog” jewelry about a year ago. When one of these pieces sells, 1/2 of the purchase price is donated to the local Humane Society where we adopted our sweet Seamus, the newest in a long line of Shadow Dogs.” Visit My Indie shop to see more of my designs!
